Sustainable energy storage with flywheel technology
The transition to renewable energy presents a major challenge: energy storage. On sunny and windy days, energy surpluses occur while dark, windless periods risk shortages. Although lithium-ion batteries are commonly used, their production is not always environmentally friendly. That’s why, together with TU Delft, we explored a mechanical alternative: energy storage using a flywheel system.

Facts: –
An innovative flywheel system for home use
We designed a flywheel-based system as a sustainable alternative for residential energy storage. Beyond technical performance, special attention was given to the system’s design and user-friendly interface. The result? A smart and stylish solution that stores energy in an environmentally conscious way.
Our approach: from research to functional design
- Collaboration with TU Delft as part of a research project.
- Development of a Matlab model to accurately calculate storage capacity and performance.
- A design focused on functionality, ease of use, and aesthetics making it suitable for home environments.
